Job Title: Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (L&D)

Location: Sioux City, IA 51104

Shift: 12-Hour Shifts | 36 Hours/Week | Every Other Weekend & Holiday Rotation

Contract Length: 13 Weeks (91 Days)

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week

Rate: local-$64 hourly (travel rate: $2,505.96 weekly)

Start Date: ASAP

EMR System: EPIC (STORK experience preferred)

On-Call: None (Extra shift scheduled instead)

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a dynamic, high-acuity hospital unit in Sioux City, Iowa. This role is best suited for confident, independent nurses with strong assessment and triage skills. As part of an interdisciplinary team, the L&D RN will contribute professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to a diverse and high-risk patient population, often without immediate physician presence.

Responsibilities:

• Perform labor assessments, triage, and ongoing monitoring of maternal and fetal well-being.
• Support patients through labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period.
• Assist physicians during deliveries and perform both circulating and (preferably) scrub roles.
• Independently manage patients and respond to obstetric emergencies using advanced clinical judgment.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure safe, culturally competent care.
• Provide emotional and educational support to patients and their families.
• Accurately document care using EPIC EMR (STORK module preferred).

Unit Information:

• Average Monthly Deliveries: 160–180
• High-Risk Population: Large non-English speaking demographic; critical thinking & communication skills are essential.
• Nurse-Driven Model: No physician on-site 24/7 – RNs perform initial triage and assessments.
• NBO Duration: 8 hours

Qualifications:

• Active Iowa RN license or Compact State License
• Minimum 1 year recent L&D experience in a high-volume (200–300 deliveries/month) setting
• High-risk OB experience required
• Circulating experience required; Scrub experience encouraged
• Multiple travel contracts completed preferred
• EPIC/STORK experience strongly preferred
• Certifications Required:
• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• NRP
• AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced
