According to a recent 2023 survey by American Mobile Nurses, Inc (AMN), four of five nurses say they experience a great deal or a lot of stress, up 16 points from 2021. Worry that their job is affecting their health is up 19 points. Often feeling emotionally drained rose 15 points. This survey is one of the longest running surveys of registered nurses (RN) since 2009, with the most recent survey reaching over 18,000 respondents. Learning a new language of life beginning with oneself, utilizing what Dr. Marshall Rosenberg coined, Nonviolent Communication, may bring hope and healing to nurses both personally and professionally. Nonviolent communication reaches below the surface, teaching assertive language techniques through a four-part process enriching both the speaker and listener for a win-win therapeutic communication style. According to Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, “NVC is founded on language and communication skills that strengthen our ability to remain human, even under trying conditions.”
